How does condor affect my PBS jobs on palmetto?

The implementation of Condor on palmetto is simple and should not be noticeable to a PBS job:

  • a node with condor running is eligible to receive a condor job
  • a node must have all 8 cores free in order to have condor running
  • when a pbs job lands on a node, condor is turned off for the entire node, even if the pbs job is requesting only 1 core from that node
  • once the pbs job finishes, if no other pbs jobs are running on the node, then condor is turned back on for that node, otherwise condor is still turned off for that node while the other pbs jobs keep running
