Installing Windows XP Condor Submit Node

This HOWTO describes Condor version 7.2.1.  CCIT recommends the latest stable release of Condor.  Some of the screens may differ slightly from those pictured below.

  1. Go to the following link to download the
    latest stable release of Condor.

  2. After downloading the archived file, extract the contents. One of the extracted files should be
    condor-7.2.1-winnt50-x86 or something similar. Start the installation process by double clicking on this.

  3. Click Next.

  4. Accept the license, and click Next.

  5. Choose the default install type: Join an existing Condor Pool. The Hostname of Central Manager is "central.condor.clemson.edu".

  6. Choose Do not run jobs on this machine if you want your machine to only submit jobs and not run them.

  7. The Accounting Domain is "clemson.edu".

  8. The Hostname of SMTP Server is "mail.clemson.edu". The Email address of administrator is your Clemson e-mail address.

  9. The installer should detect the path to your Java Runtime Envoronment (if installed). If not, set the path here.

  10. Replace the Hosts with Write access field contents with "*.clemson.edu".

  11. The VM Universe is not needed.

  12. Condor services will start on boot in the future. To start them at the end of the installer session, select Yes here.

  13. Select Install. There is no useful customization available.

  14. Select Install. The installation will proceed to completion.
